International election observer attacked in Lviv - statement

KYIV. Oct 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A representative of the CIS Election Monitoring Organization (CIS EMO) was attacked in Lviv on Wednesday evening, says a CIS EMO press release distributed in Kyiv on Thursday.

Four people attacked observer Bakhtiyer Khudoiberdiyev on his way from a polling station. Khudoiberdiyev was checking the polling station's readiness for the Ukrainian presidential election.

The observer was taken to a city clinic's emergency room and proved to have a concussion. He was given first aid and hospitalized.

The police are investigating the attack.
