Like most philosophers and scholars up to Kepler, theory--not experience--was the source of truth, and what authorities had to say women's teeth was more reliable than looking in a woman's mouth.
In his defense, oral hygiene wasn't a priority in his day, and many women (and men) lost many teeth.
In short, Aristotle erred, because he never looked.
