Ukrainian anti-government demonstrators have been getting into the driving seat – as protest leaders introduce new types of activism after weeks of rallies in central Kyiv.
Protesters drove dozens of cars from the centre of Kyiv to the house of the Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka in the outskirts of the city on Saturday, December 28.
Opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk explained why activists were taking the wheel:
“We will deliver the three main demands of the Ukrainian people: to release all the innocent people in jail; to punish all the criminals; and for the government to resign,” Yatsenyuk told a press briefing.
There are plans to take the protest to the residence of President Victor Yanukovych on Sunday, December 29.
