[Presenter] Heads of local state administrations are issuing orders to university rectors to prevent students from participating in opposition protests in September. The Yuliya Tymoshenko Bloc leader, Yuliya Tymoshenko, said this at a news conference in Kiev, Forum web site reported. If students take part in the protests, they may be expelled.
Last Friday [6 September], Ukrainian Education and Science Minister Vasyl Kremin said that his ministry would not allow students to disrupt studies and organize protests in educational establishments.
The Education Ministry said that its only concern is over the education process. The state secretary to the ministry, Vitaliy Zhuravskyy, has said the following:
[Zhuravskyy] If on 16 September the student will participate in protests during education process, he will violate both his education establishment's statute and the law on higher education. The student has the right to participate in any protests at a time free from studies.
