New Year's tree

We went to see the tree at the main place in the country of Ukraine and got totally shoked at what we have seen.
"Kozaky" are hangign on the tree!
Whose sick mind got such an idea? Did the president see it? He said once that he had some roots and his blood did not frreeze from seeing it?
Could you imagine during soviet era hanging "parizans" or Kuznetsov and Kovpak, or cosmonavta, or Zoya Kosmodemianskaya or mambers of politburo.
After 14 years of independence and trying to bring Ukrainian histoey back, we are hanging kozaky among toys and clouns?
Do people understand what it means?
Where is the national pride?
And the main question still is - who did that.
