To celebrate another successful year, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics is delighted to announce the online publication of the Highlights of 2008.

The 30 articles represent some of the best work published in J. Phys. D in the year across its wide scope, and include research papers, fast-track communications, review articles and cluster issue contributions. All the selected articles were well received by their referees, and have proven very popular with the journal's wide readership.
