28 November 2004 at 13.00, activists of student and political organizations will start the second day of their "Seige of Russian Embasy in Ukraine".
The first day of the seige, 27 November 2004, started with simultaneous meetings of protest in Kiev and Warsaw. Around 1,000 Ukrainians in Poland piqueted Russian embassy, demanding to stop unprecedented interference with Ukrainian internal affairs.
In Kiev, Russian embassy was seiged by the activists of student and political organizations as well as residents of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Cherkasy oblasts. The protests started with setting up a monument of "the Unknown Russian Invader". Protesters made a snow base, and on top of it placed a zync coffin with the signs "To the Russian OMON" and "Isn't Chechnya enough?!".
All fir trees around the Embassy were decorated with orange ribbons.
One of the action organizers Vadym Hladchuk stated that Vladimir Putin started an unprecedented invasion into Ukrainian internal affairs. The payment for Putin's support was the creation of a gas transportation consortium, reversal of the Odesa - Brody oil pipeline, alienation of the state share of the Halychyna oil-refining plant and Ukrnafta, promises of double citizenship, etc.
The participants called all Ukrainans in the world to support this action by seiging Russian embassies in their countries of residence and demaning Putin's non-interference in Ukrainian internal affairs.
The action of civil non-violent resistance to Putin's agressive policy towards Ukraine will continue until complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine with respective confirmation by international observers from the USA, EU, and UNO; withdrawal of Russian intelligence agents from the territory of Ukraine (their list is announced at the action); withdrawal of Russian Embassador Chernomyrdin; and cancelation of Putin's premature statement about the recognition of falsified results of Ukrainian presidential elections.
