An emotional letter to my fellow Iranians.

This text was written by an Iranian who has lived for half of his life in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

What happened in my homeland, Iran, has caused me pain, and after two days of trying to control my state, I decided to write this text. The first thing I tell you is – the stronger the threat, the greater the need to remain calm so as not to make emotional decisions!

It can be safely said that no country in the world has problems like our beloved Iran in these times…

On the one hand, we are dealing with a government that mercilessly kills our protesting girls and boys, and on the other hand, any attack by foreign states hurts conscious citizens.

I, your humble servant, will write my opinion to be, as always, direct and honest.

Our homeland does not need stupid and inept leaders

1. Without a doubt, our homeland does not need stupid and inept leaders! Those who showed their quality by supporting the worst dictatorial regime of Russia! If you don’t know, I will tell you that just for the transfer of Shahed-136 UAVs (and later the technology for their production and components) to the Russians, the Islamic Republic (in no case to be confused with Iran) got into the top lines of the list of countries that support terrorism. And this is nothing but the trick of a group of idiots, because even North Korea refused to support the criminals so openly.

2. Throughout the pathetic existence of the Islamic Republic, patriotic feelings were addressed very rarely, mentioned only when the authorities needed it. This means that we were taken for idiots. Unfortunately, people naively believed in these emotional provocations, and the lesson has not yet been learned. But, in addition, because of such actions, today we no longer have patriots like in the 80s and 90s, and this is already a harbinger of defeat before the start of any war.

The biggest historical mistakes of the Iranian people have been and are silence and non-interference

3. Our biggest historical mistakes, of the people of Iran, have been and are silence and non-interference… We (do not think that I am setting myself apart from you) are selfishly afraid to fight the problems, and this is due to a genetic fear that lives in our recent generations. But we see that in times when we have worthy leaders, such as Nader Shah, Reza Shah, and many other worthy ones, we become like the Lion in our flag and deal with any enemy perfectly! This means it is not difficult for us to understand how we came to such a life… And when you know the cause, you will easily find the cure!

4. Let’s not consume history like a drug!!! We all, watching documentaries about the better times of our homeland, fall into euphoria – but do nothing to bring back these wonderful times! Like opium-addicted drug users, we are full of wonderful intentions, but as soon as the high passes, we fall into passivity and despair. Do you think we risked less when we rebelled against the Mongols? Have you forgotten the heroism of the Tangestanis in the struggle against the greatest military power of those times, the British army? Believe me, in comparison with the feats of those times (and many do not want you to remember this), in the modern technologically advanced world, today’s problems look meager in the eyes of history.

The good deed of casting out the evil spirits from our homeland should be done with our own hands

In the end, I, your humble servant, want to say that the good deed of casting out the evil spirits from our homeland should be done with our own hands. It is wonderful to have good relations with the rest of the world, but a neighbor will not be better than one’s own mother.

My dears, on the morning the attack on Iran began, I tried to record a video for the internet. But a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes did not let me finish the recording. They do not leave me even now… I saved this unfinished video for myself as a memory of those tears and feelings of despair.

In the first days of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, I drove around Kharkiv; it was very scary. I listened to the song “Dayeh dayeh vaghte jange” (translated from Lurish as “Mother, mother, it’s time to fight”), and my fear passed.

But now I say calmly: Dayeh, it’s time to fight, because the war has come. If there is a drunk driver in your bus, or a driver who cannot hold the steering wheel, it is necessary to remove him from the wheel and pedals, so that we all do not fall into a precipice together!

Your son, your brother, your humble servant,
Mehrdad (Hassan) Pourhossein,
