A sixteen-story residential building at 82 Uzhviy Street was destroyed in the first days of the full-scale invasion. On March 5, 2022, the Russians dropped an aerial bomb on the building, causing catastrophic damage to it. Part of the walls, ceiling and floor were completely destroyed. A fire broke out, leaving half of the building charred to black.

At some point, the mutilated high-rise building became a symbol of the broken Northern Saltivka. This neighborhood was particularly badly affected by Russian shelling. Even now, the building attracts the attention of both journalists and photographers, as well as city residents. Photos of the broken high-rise building once went around the world. To date, most of the building cannot be restored. It is already known that the building must be partially dismantled. The relevant decision was adopted by the Regional Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations.
