On the night of August 1, 2023, Russia bombarded Kharkiv with “Shahed” drones. At least three drone strikes were recorded in the city. One of those hit the dormitory of the Kharkiv Higher Vocational School of the Service Sector. The 3rd and 2nd floors of the building partially collapsed, the roof was destroyed. A fire broke out at the place of the strike – its area was 200 square meters. There were no people in the building at that time. The drones were launched from the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

The school received its current name only in 2007. It was founded on March 26, 1946 as a vocational school of the regional industrial cooperation. In the post-war years, the learning process was difficult, there was a lack of equipment and textbooks. On February 2, 1960, the school was reorganized into a vocational school with different profile including the educational production facility. At the same time, a new three-story building was allocated to the school on Yakira Street, 5, later renamed to Tyurynska. This building was damaged in 2022.
